Why Gold Coast homeowners choose The Fencing Group

Carpenter-built gatehouse in Gold Coast, QLD - The Fencing Group
  1. 01

A carpenter's eye on every fence

Michael spent 20 years as a carpenter, including high-rise commercial work, before he moved into fencing about 8 years ago. That background shows in the layout. We set out the posts so the whole run is seamless, with no steps or mismatched heights to catch your eye from the street.

  2. 02

Licensed in Queensland and New South Wales

We hold a QBCC licence in Queensland and a licence in New South Wales, and we're fully insured. Before you pay any fencer a deposit, check their licence on the QBCC register. Ours is QBCC [licence no. to come] and NSW [licence no. to come].

  3. 03

    You know who turns up

Laura calls you after your enquiry with an approximate price, so you know where you stand before anyone visits. If the price suits you, Michael comes out himself. He measures up and writes the formal quote, and you'll always know who is coming to your place and when.

  4. 04

    Custom gates and gatehouses

Plenty of fencers turn gatehouse jobs down. Michael builds them. With his carpentry background, he can design a gatehouse, pedestrian gate or driveway gate around your home and your fence, so the entry looks like it was always part of the house. Bring a photo or just an idea, and he'll work out how to build it.

  5. 05

    Done once, done properly

We treat every fence as if it were going in front of our own home, from the first measure to the last post cap. No cut corners. It's why clients tell us their neighbours stop to ask who built it, and why so much of our work comes from the house next door.

Fencing and gates for Gold Coast homes

Hamptons PVC picket fence in Gold Coast, QLD - The Fencing Group

PVC Fencing

PVC is where Michael started. He was two panels into his first PVC job when the neighbours started asking if he could do theirs. Hamptons-style PVC gives your home a clean coastal look that needs no painting or staining, and it won't rot or rust.

We lay out every run so the line is seamless, then match the gate to the fence so the frontage reads as one piece.

Colorbond boundary fence in Gold Coast, QLD - The Fencing Group

Colorbond Fencing

We install Colorbond fencing across the Gold Coast for side and back boundaries, where you want privacy from the neighbours and a yard the dog can't get out of. It's steel, needs no painting, and comes in the standard Colorbond colours.

A boundary fence usually sits on the line you share with next door. We keep the run straight and the panel heights even, so it looks as tidy from their side as from yours.

Aluminium front fence in Gold Coast, QLD - The Fencing Group

Aluminium Fencing

Powder-coated aluminium fencing gives a feature frontage a sleek, modern finish. It's a natural fit for high-end homes, where the front fence is the first thing anyone sees from the street. It lifts the street appeal of the whole frontage.

We install aluminium in a range of styles [styles to be confirmed], and can match a pedestrian or driveway gate in the same finish so the whole entry ties together.

Frameless glass pool fence in Gold Coast, QLD - The Fencing Group

Pool Fencing

We install frameless glass and aluminium pool fencing for homes in Queensland and New South Wales. Glass keeps the view open. Aluminium gives you a durable, practical barrier that suits a busy family yard.

Queensland's pool safety standard requires a barrier at least 1200 mm high and gates that close and latch on their own. We build to it from the first measure, and Michael will talk you through what applies to your yard.

Sliding driveway gate in Gold Coast, QLD - The Fencing Group

Driveway and Pedestrian Gates

We build custom driveway and pedestrian gates in sliding, swing and cantilever styles, made to match the fence they sit in. Any of them can be automated [automation details to be confirmed].

We measure gates once the fence is in, then make them to fit, which usually takes two to three weeks. And if you want a gatehouse over the entry, that's the job Michael enjoys most.

Fencing questions from Gold Coast homeowners

Do Gold Coast fences need council approval?

Usually not. The City of Gold Coast says fencing up to 2.0 m above original ground level generally doesn't need building approval. Corner lots, pool fencing and waterfront fencing are the main exceptions, along with title or contract restrictions. We'll check what applies to your block.

Are you licensed in Queensland and New South Wales?

Yes. We hold a QBCC licence for Queensland work and a licence for New South Wales, and we're fully insured. Our licence numbers are on every quote. If you're comparing fencers, look each one up on the QBCC register before you pay a deposit.

Will my Gold Coast pool fence pass inspection?

We build pool fences to Queensland's pool safety standard, which requires a barrier at least 1200 mm high, a gap underneath of no more than 100 mm, and gates that close and latch on their own. On the Gold Coast, pool fencing also needs approval and an inspection.

What does a new fence cost on the Gold Coast?

It depends on the fence type, the length of the run, the slope and access, and whether an old fence has to come out first. Laura can give you an approximate price over the phone. Michael then measures up on site and gives you a formal, detailed quote.

How soon can you start on my fence?

It depends on the time of year and the size of the job. Tell us your timing when you enquire and Laura will talk it through on the first call. We measure custom gates once the fence is in, then build them, which usually adds two to three weeks.

Can you fence a canal-front home on the Gold Coast?

Yes. On the Gold Coast, waterfront fencing inside the waterway regulation line is limited to 1.2 m high. Aluminium and frameless glass suit these blocks well, because they keep the view to the water open. We'll check where the line falls on your block.

Can you build a custom gatehouse to match my home?

Yes, and it's the work Michael enjoys most. His 20 years as a carpenter is why he takes on designs other installers turn down. Send us a photo of your home or an idea you've seen, and he'll design the gatehouse, gates and fence to work together.

Do you repair storm-damaged fences around the Gold Coast?

We take on larger storm damage jobs, which come through most cyclone seasons. We don't do small repairs or general maintenance. If a storm has flattened a section of fence, send photos through the quote form and we'll tell you if it's a job for us.
